Small Group Training in Vancouver

Personal Attention at Group Prices

One-on-one personal training in Vancouver costs $100-180 per session. Small group training at TSquared delivers the same expert coaching from Troy's 20+ years of experience for just $40-50 per session. With only 5 people maximum per group, you receive individualized form corrections and exercise modifications while enjoying the motivation of training with others.

Low-Impact Training That Actually Builds Strength

TSquared's exclusive Gravity Training System uses bodyweight resistance on an adjustable incline—no heavy weights that stress aging joints. This approach builds muscle and bone density while protecting cartilage and connective tissue. Perfect for adults dealing with arthritis, past injuries, or joint concerns who want results without inflammation.

Community of People in the Same Life Stage

Train with other adults 40+ who balance fitness with careers, families, and bodies that need smarter approaches. No trying to keep up with 25-year-olds in bootcamp classes. Just genuine connections with people who understand the challenges of staying strong as you age.

What Makes Small Group Training Different from Regular Fitness Classes

Small group training at TSquared isn't like the crowded fitness classes found in Vancouver gyms. This is true small group training - capped at 5 participants maximum. Most fitness studios run 10-15 people per class and call it "small group." At TSquared, Troy knows your name, remembers your limitations, and adjusts your program based on how you're feeling that day.

Each 60-minute session combines strength, mobility, and balance training using our Gravity Training System. This equipment exists nowhere else in Vancouver. It allows instant resistance adjustments for each person, so whether you're recovering from surgery or training for a hiking trip, everyone works at their appropriate level simultaneously.

Sessions take place at our private studio inside the Sandman Hotel at 180 W Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver. You're not competing for equipment in a packed commercial gym. The intimate setting creates accountability—when your group expects you Tuesday morning, you show up. That consistency produces actual results.

Troy programs the overall session structure but individualizes exercises within the group format. If someone's dealing with shoulder pain or returning from vacation, workouts adapt. You get the benefits of personal training (customization, expert coaching, injury prevention) with the motivation and affordability of group training.

The Benefits Adults Over 40 Notice Within Weeks

  • Better Balance and Fall Prevention

Within 3-4 weeks of consistent training, most clients report improved balance when walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, or standing on one foot. The Gravity Training System engages stabilizer muscles throughout every movement, reducing fall risk and improving body awareness. This is critical for adults over 40 as balance naturally deteriorates without targeted training.

  • Reduced Joint Pain and Increased Mobility

Regular movement lubricates joints and strengthens surrounding muscles that provide support. Clients with arthritis, past injuries, or chronic stiffness consistently experience less pain and greater range of motion after 4-6 weeks. The low-impact nature of our training prevents the inflammation that often comes from traditional high-impact classes.

  • Functional Strength for Daily Activities

Lifting groceries, getting up from the floor, carrying suitcases, reaching overhead—these everyday movements become noticeably easier within 6-8 weeks. You're not training for bodybuilding. You're training to maintain independence and capability as you age. Clients report feeling younger and more confident in their bodies.

  • Improved Posture and Core Stability

Decades of desk work create rounded shoulders, forward head posture, and weak cores that lead to back pain. The Gravity Training System emphasizes spinal alignment and core engagement in every exercise. Most clients notice they stand taller and experience less back discomfort within the first month.

  • Higher Energy Levels Throughout the Day

Exercise releases endorphins, improves sleep quality, and boosts metabolism. Adults who train consistently report more energy at work, better mood stability, and improved mental clarity. The morning or lunch sessions create momentum that carries through the entire day.

  • Preserved Muscle Mass and Bone Density

After 40, adults lose 3-8% of muscle mass per decade without strength training. Women lose bone density faster during and after menopause. Our resistance-based approach helps preserve and build muscle while strengthening bones, maintaining metabolism and protecting against osteoporosis.

  • Built-In Accountability and Social Connection

Training with the same small group creates genuine friendships and accountability. You show up because your group expects you. You celebrate wins together and support each other through challenges. This social connection combats isolation and makes fitness sustainable long-term.

Our Unique Gravity Training System: Perfect for Aging Bodies

The Gravity Training System is TSquared's competitive advantage. This equipment doesn't exist in regular Vancouver gyms. It uses bodyweight on an adjustable incline glideboard to create progressive resistance without heavy weights, impact, or joint stress.

Why it works perfectly for adults over 40: Traditional weight machines lock you into fixed movement patterns that don't account for individual body mechanics or existing injuries. Free weights require excellent form and can be intimidating without proper guidance. The Gravity Training System adapts to your body.

By adjusting the glideboard angle, Troy instantly changes resistance from 4% to 80% of your bodyweight. This means the same equipment works for someone just starting their fitness journey and someone who's trained for years. You control intensity based on how you feel that specific day.

The glideboard moves smoothly on precision tracks, eliminating jarring impact while providing serious muscle engagement. Over 250 different exercises target every muscle group—squats, rows, presses, core work, balance training—all on one versatile piece of equipment that protects joints while building strength.

For adults dealing with arthritis, past injuries, or general joint concerns, this changes everything. You get the resistance needed to build muscle and bone density without the inflammation and pain from traditional gym equipment. This is why clients with chronic joint issues train consistently at TSquared without setbacks.

What to Expect: Your First Session in Detail

How many people train in each small group session?

TSquared caps every small group at 5 participants maximum. This is significantly smaller than most Vancouver fitness studios that run 8-15 people per class. With only 5 people, Troy provides personalized form corrections, exercise modifications, and individual attention while maintaining the motivating group atmosphere. You're never lost in a crowd.

What if I have injuries or physical limitations?

Most TSquared clients deal with some form of injury history, arthritis, or chronic pain. Troy has 20+ years of experience working exclusively with adults 40-70 and knows how to modify every exercise for different limitations. The Gravity Training System is particularly effective because it's low-impact and allows instant resistance adjustments. During your first session, you'll discuss specific concerns and Troy ensures exercises are appropriate for your body.

How is this different from regular group fitness classes?

Traditional group fitness classes follow a one-size-fits-all format where everyone does identical workouts regardless of fitness level, injuries, or experience. At TSquared, Troy programs the session structure but individualizes exercises for each person. You might do a different variation than the person next to you based on your shoulder mobility, knee issues, or current strength level. It's personalized coaching within a small group setting.

Am I too out of shape to start small group training?

Absolutely not. Many clients haven't exercised regularly in years when they start at TSquared. The Gravity Training System scales perfectly for beginners because resistance is based on bodyweight and angle adjustments—you can start at 4% and progress gradually. Troy meets you exactly where you are today. The small group format means you're training with other adults who understand the challenges of starting or restarting fitness in your 40s, 50s, or beyond.

How much does small group training cost in Vancouver?

Small group training sessions at TSquared cost $40-50 per session depending on package size. Most clients purchase 8, 12, or 20-session packages for the best value. This is 60-70% less expensive than one-on-one personal training ($100-180/session) while still providing expert coaching and personalized attention. Your first session is completely free so you can experience the training approach before committing financially.

What should I wear and bring to training sessions?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows full range of motion. Running shoes or cross-trainers work well. Bring a water bottle—we provide everything else including towels, all equipment, and a supportive training environment. The studio has change facilities if you're coming from work downtown.

How quickly will I see results from small group training?

Most clients notice improved energy levels and reduced stiffness within 2-3 weeks of consistent training. Visible strength gains, better balance, and functional improvements typically appear around 4-6 weeks when training 2-3 times per week. Long-term results require consistency—the group accountability helps maintain attendance better than solo training where it's easy to skip sessions.

Can I train if I'm recovering from surgery or injury?

With medical clearance from your doctor, yes. Troy works with many clients during post-rehabilitation phases. The low-impact nature of Gravity Training makes it ideal for rebuilding strength after injury or surgery without re-aggravating the area. Always obtain clearance from your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program if you have recent injuries or medical procedures.

Troy Tyrell: 20+ Years Specializing in Adults 40-70

Troy Tyrell isn't a young trainer who learned fitness from social media. He's dedicated over two decades exclusively to working with adults 40-70, understanding exactly how bodies change with age and what training approaches actually work for this demographic.

He knows that a 50-year-old woman going through menopause needs different programming than a 30-year-old. He understands that declining testosterone in men over 40 affects muscle building and recovery. He's coached hundreds of clients through joint replacements, back surgeries, and chronic pain conditions.

This experience shows up in every session. Troy spots compensation patterns before they become injuries. He knows when to push clients and when to back off. I love these classes! The gravity training is high intensity but low impact. I was suffering from a lower back injury and had trouble with that so many times when doing workouts alone. That haven't happened since I attend these workouts and my lower back and core are stronger now.It is also helping a lot with balance and flexibility, it's a full body workout.I've noticed a huge improvement in my ice skating practices and skiing as well. I feel stronger, balanced.Yesterday it was the first time in my life I could do 50 push ups. Thank you Troy for encouraging us to push or limits!
